Rare, Antique Peruvian Silver Child's Side Saddle Stirrup with blue faceted stone (sapphire?).
When the Spaniard Conquistadors came to the Americas in the 16th c., they reintroduced the horse into areas where horses had become extinct, this slipper or stirrup was used for riding side saddle
measures approximately 5 3/8" long by 2 1/4" wide and roughly 2 1/2" high which is quite small so it must have been for a child.
This rare piece most likely dates to the late 19th century.
